Winged Wonders

Information and news about the spectacular local wildlife and unique local history in and around Princes Risborough.

We have now added the full programme for the annual Walking Festival in June, click on the Walking Festival tab above.

Sandy Macfarlane has taken this lovely picture of a female Orange Tip, a harbinger of spring and still flying in the local countryside and our gardens this week. He has captured the delicately patterned underwings, only apparent when the insect is at rest or nectaring.

Maddie Simpkin was watching a Hummingbird Hawkmoth in her garden today. We often see them in large numbers in July and August if conditions favour a migration across the Channel but this specimen was probably a hibernator.
