Phoenix Trail

The Phoenix Trail running west from Princes Risborough is a great place to observe summer wildlife whether on foot or bike!

This former railway route is lined with wild flowers and the hedgerows along the trail are still full of birdsong with Blackcaps, Garden Warblers and Chiffchaffs still performing either deep in the lineside bushes or up in tree canopy, and Whitethroats, with their typical scratchy call, sitting astride the hedgerows.

This is raptor country too. Yesterday I disturbed a Buzzard perched on a trackside fence post. At Hinton Crossing I watched two Sparrowhawks mob another Buzzard while a Kestrel looked on from a nearby Oak and Kites circled high above. Search the dead branches on old Oaks for birds of prey.
