The Chiltern Society now manage the Brush Hill Local Nature Reserve which overlooks the town and is situated between Kop Hill and Whiteleaf Hill. The reserve features open chalk grassland, woodland scrub and a plantation, offering a range of habitats with diverse wildlife including butterflies , chalk flora and birds.
Car parking is available in the Whiteleaf car park at the top of Peters Lane with direct access to Brush Hill just across this road. An information leaflet is available from Princes Risborough Library.
The Chiltern Society are proactive in conservation and regard the Chilterns as a special landscape and needing constant care to preserve its unique character. Their ongoing conservation work aims to:
- Maintain and improve paths for the enjoyment of walkers, horse-riders and cyclists
- Help wildlife to thrive by providing havens in woodlands and at nature reserves
- Improve streams & ponds
- Help the Chilterns be the very best it can be
- Working in a varied landscape
In addition to the work we do at this local site, our volunteers also carry out extensive work in dozens of public areas from commons to copses, and from paths to ponds! The are also active in helping to manage the woodlands and landscapes around nearby Whiteleaf Cross too.
